Junges Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble – Two weeks working,
practising and performing with Bach expert Helmuth Rilling!

The connection between thinking about music and practical performance is a central interest for Helmuth Rilling and the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart which he founded. With its combination of scholarly work and practical music-making, the Stuttgart Bach Week is a unique week of study, bringing together vocal and instrumental tutors, scholars, artists, students and an interested audience. From 2011, for the Bach Week each year, a spezial international orchestra and choir will be drawn together. The Young Stuttgart Bach Ensemble initiative is made possible by the generous support of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung. These ensembles will continue the artistic-educational work which Helmuth Rilling has undertaken with the Festival Ensemble Stuttgart, and at the same time, there will be a special emphasis on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The 2011 programme includes the St John Passion.
